TERM 1
READING FOR MEANING: Cause and Effect & Novel Study & Supported Study
Learning Intentions:  Students will learn to: recognize cause and effect and write with purpose and enriched vocabulary in response to photos, adverts, brochures and in a range of text types. They will listen to modelled reading of the novel and also read it themselves to enhance their speaking and critical thinking skills. They will have the opportunity to access teacher assistance in supported study.
Success Criteria: You will be able to: recognize, speak about, write about and understand cause and effect in different mediums and reflect this in your own writing, using connectives. You will be able to answer questions to show understanding of the novel “When you reach me.” by Rebecca Stead” and write reactions, predictions, reflections, analyses, responses, make assumptions, and write with purpose and with enriched vocabulary in your own writing. You will use directed supported study to access teacher assistance, when necessary.
 
TERM 2:
READING FOR MEANING: Drawing Conclusions and Making Inferences & Novel Study & Supported Study.
Learning Intentions:  Students will learn to: draw conclusions and make inferences and write with purpose and enriched vocabulary in response to photos, adverts, brochures and in a range of text types. They will listen to modelled reading of the novel and also read it themselves to enhance their speaking and critical thinking skills. They will have the opportunity to access teacher assistance in supported study.
Success Criteria: You will be able to: recognize, speak about, write about and understand how to draw conclusions and make inferences, in different text types and reflect this in their own writing. You will be able to continue to answer questions to show understanding of the novel “When you reach me.” by Rebecca Stead” and write reactions, predictions, reflections, analyses, responses, make assumptions, and write with purpose and with enriched vocabulary in your own writing. You will use directed supported study to access teacher assistance, when necessary.
